The border guards let out 1,2 million people during New Year and Christmas holidays, as the State Border Guard Service reported.

“The Border Guard Service attracted additional border guard units and service dogs. They used all available modern equipment for the check and inspection of the vehicles. Moreover, the special attention was drawn to the citizens, who originate from the countries of the migration risk,” the message said.

More than 600 orders of the authorized state bodies were fulfilled, 50 alarms of the Interpol base were implemented. The border guards found 40 invalid and forged passports, detained 60 people for illegal crossing of the state borders and intercepted 20 attempts of smuggling in the total sum of $19,981.

The workers of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine detected six foreigners with someone else’s or forged passports at Kyiv and Odesa airports on January 1, 2019.

Earlier, the border guards in Lviv region prevented an illicit crossing of Ukrainian-Polish border by four foreigners. All four were detained for three days in order to clarify the circumstances of the violation. It is also noted that they have arrived in Ukraine legally.
