In case of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, more than 90 percent of Ukrainian citizens will be fighting for their country. Andriy Yermak, the head of Office of the President of Ukraine reported that in an interview with British Channel 4.

Replying to the question whether Ukraine is more ready for invasion than it was in 2014, Yermak said the following: "First of all, I'm absolutely sure that 90 percent of our population will be here to fight for our country. If that happens, it will be a sentence for NATO and a big problem because all Western governments will have to explain their citizens why they negotiatied for so long, and it (the invasion, - 112 International) still happened".

He added that the goal of NATO membership is written in the Constitution of Ukraine, and Ukrainians and NATO members have the authority to make the decision to join the Alliance.

"If any NATO member stands against this (Ukraine's accession - 112 International), please report it properly, honestly and friendly to us. A victory for Ukraine, a settlement of the Ukrainian case, would be one of the biggest victories for all our partners. At the same time, some of the problems and the continuation of the war in Ukraine or escalation of the situation will be one of the biggest defeats for our partner countries", Yermak said.

According to the official, the talks about cutting the number of firearms in Ukraine may begin only after the war is over.
