20 Il-76 planes with command officers of the Russian peacekeeping forces and military men of detachments of 15th peacekeeping brigade landed in Armenia. The planes brought over 400 military men, armored fighting vehicles, armored cars, and communications gears, as the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
The ministry stated that the peacekeeping forces of the Russian Federation are deployed to control the ceasefire regime and military actions in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone in the amount of 1,960 military men, 90 armored fighting vehicles, 380 armored cars, and special equipment.
After the agreement of the routes of movement, the Russian peacekeepers will start to hold marches in the areas for the fulfillment of peacekeeping tasks.
The detachments of the 15th peacekeeping motor-rifle brigade of the Central military district will make the basis of the Russian contingent.
The display of the Russian lockouts along the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh and along the Lachin corridor is provided to control the observation of the agreements by the sides of the conflict.
The command of the Russian peacekeeping forces is deployed near Stepanakert to command the peacekeeping operation.
On November 9, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev agreed to cease the war in Nagorno-Karabakh.
