US congressman Lee Zeldin said that this is about the growth of reliance on one of the sources of energy. Because of this, the US partners from Central and Eastern Europe may suffer. He explained that the Turkish Stream would increase the ability of the Russian Federation to influence other countries, and this could lead to negative consequences.

"We think that democratic institutions cannot be held hostage to energy supplies related to Nord Stream 2 and Turkish Stream," Zeldin said.

Ukraine, Poland, the Baltic countries and the United States actively oppose the construction. They call on the European Union to block the project, stating that it is a “gas needle”, which increases the dependence of Europeans on energy supplies from the Russian Federation.
