According to the document, the adoption of the law on parliamentary opposition will allow to regulate legal relations in the sphere of opposition activities in the Verkhovna Rada, to determine the place of parliamentary opposition in the society and the state functioning, to outline the principles, on which relations between the coalition of deputy factions and parliamentary opposition are built, to guarantee legislation activities of the opposition forces represented in the Verkhovna Rada.
In particular, the bill provides the establishment of an opposition day in the calendar of the Verkhovna Rada, whose agenda will be formed by opposition factions. In addition, it is suggested to hand over the leadership of the Parliament's control committees - on freedom of expression, information policy, human rights and regulation to the opposition.
The constructive activity of parliamentary opposition in democratic states ensures a competition of alternative directions of development and activeness of different spheres of public life and depends, in particular, on the level of its formal institutionalization and the possibility of the legislative process influencing.
"In this regard, in order to ensure the proper performance of the opposition functions, it is important to prescribe effective guarantees of the parliamentary opposition in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine at the legislative level," MPs from Opposition Platform - For Life state.
