Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is ready for launch. It only needs permission from Germany. This was stated by the Russian ambassador to the United Kingdom, Andrey Kelin, in an interview with the BBC.

"The fact is that the Nord Stream 2 pipeline exists, it is ready, it is ready for use, and we are awaiting a final decision from Germany," the ambassador said.

In addition, Kelin said that this year's increase in Russian gas supplies through the Ukrainian gas transportation system in excess of contractual transit obligations is 10%.

"As we understand, we cannot do more, because the equipment of this pipeline has never been modernized and reconstructed, so it is simply dangerous to use it," added Kelin.

As reported, a Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Michael McCall, called on President Joe Biden to urgently impose sanctions against Russia's Nord Stream 2. However, according to Politico, Biden will not impose sanctions on the Russian gas pipeline. The White House is not considering such options during his presidency.
