One of the attackers who beat up people during the rally in Dnipro on May 9 was put behind the bars. Arsen Avakov, Ukraine’s Interior Minister posted that at Facebook.
‘The first one of these thugs is behind the bars already – the court arrested him for two months. No liaisons, no protectorate of the local authorities could have helped him avoid the punishment. There’s more to come for him, of course’, Avakov wrote.
Previously, the chiefs of municipal and regional police in Dnipro were fired; that followed the brutal fights, which occurred in Dnipro city on May 9, when two groups of activists fought over flags and banners with Soviet symbols. 14 people were injured, another 15 were detained during the fights.
The Interior Ministry qualified the actions of certain policemen as ‘breaching the law’, as they assisted the thugs who attacked people. The attackers are supposed to be hired by some of the local pro-Russian political circles.
