The U.S. authorities stated on successful special operation on the elimination of leader of terrorist organization al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula Qasim al-Rimi as the White House reported.
“At the direction of President Donald J. Trump, the United States conducted a counterterrorism operation in Yemen that successfully eliminated Qasim al-Rimi, a founder and the leader of al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and a deputy to al-Qa’ida leader Ayman al-Zawahiri,” the message said.
The White House noted that al-Rimi joined al-Qa’ida in 1990s when he worked for Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan. When al-Rimi headed al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula, this organization committed unconscionable violence against civilians in Yemen and tried to inspire its supporters to attack the U.S.
Washington explained that the elimination of al-Rimi degrades AQAP and decreased the threat level for the national security of the U.S. and allies.
“We will continue to protect the American people by tracking down and eliminating terrorists who seek to do us harm,” the statement said.
Earlier the number of American mass media reported about the elimination of al-Baghdadi. It was known that he detonated the vest with explosives to avoid the detention. However, the DNA test and biometric test should be held to prove it.
