Olena Zerkal, the counselor of the Head of the Directors Board of Naftogaz-Ukraine joint stock company will be representing this country and the entity in courts when the jury considers cases against Gazprom and the Russian Federation. Naftogaz's press office reported that on May 14.
"The direction that I'm responsible at Naftogaz is crucial both for the company and for Ukraine, since it's about long-term goals of Ukraine's integration in the world market for better business conditions and protection of energy safety. This is why not only the work will not stop on the processes and arbitrary cases that already begun, but it'll also become more intensive", Zerkal said.
As is known, in 2014-2019, Zerkal was Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, taking care of the issues of Ukraine's European integration. She represented Ukraine in the UN International Court in the cases against Russia.
Zerkal was also involved in the negotiations aiming to extend the transit of the Russian gas to Europe after 2019. Besides, she stood against the construction of Nord Stream II pipeline.
