Oleksandr Buryak will lead the investigation of Maidan cases in the State Bureau of Investigation as the SIB reported.
“The accomplishment of the investigation of Maidan cases is one of the most demanding challenges, which stands before the State Bureau of Investigation. It is a difficult area of work, where not only desire but also considerable experience of work in the investigation is needed for it. The leadership of the State Bureau of Investigation understands its clearly that is why they assigned me for this responsible work,” Buryak noted.
On January 2, the bureau reported that Buryak is appointed as the head of the department on the investigation of Maidan cases. Earlier he worked as the deputy head of the SIB. Buryak was responsible for the work of the operative detachments and worked on their staffing.
According to Buryak, the transfer of the investigators and prosecutors from the Prosecutor General’s of Ukraine to his department takes place as it is provided by the amendment of Ukraine’s law ‘On State Investigation Bureau”.
As we reported, lawyer of ex-president Viktor Yanukovych and his security guard Oleksandr Babikov occupied the position of Deputy Director of the State Investigation Bureau (SIB). He will deal with the investigation of the shootings of the Heavenly Hundred.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Roman Truba from the post of the Director of the State Investigation Bureau (SIB). Iryna Venediktova became the Acting Director of the State Investigation Bureau.
