Odesa City Chair Hennadiy Trukhanov is served with charges concerning the undeclared property for over 16 million of the hryvnia ($588,783), as the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) reported.
On April 14, 2020, Deputy Prosecutor General Nazar Kholodnytsky served charges to Odesa mayor in the provision of false information for the declaration by a person authorized for the fulfillment of functions of the state or local government for 2017.
Particularly, the investigation established that the city head did not mention the property and income of his wife. Particularly, a flat in Odesa, parking slots, a car, equity rights, and others.
The total value of the undeclared property makes 16.3 million hryvnia ($599,823).
The actions of the official are qualified as a declaration of false information.
The sanction of the article provides the punishment in the form of the fine of 2,500-3,000 minimum non-taxable incomes of the citizens of 150-240 hours of public works or deprivation of liberty for up to two years with the deprivation of the right occupy particular positions or hold a similar activity for up to three years.
The SAPO reminded that two cases with the involvement of Trukhanov are considered at the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court.
One case concerns the declaration of false information in 2015-2016.
The second case concerns the acquisition of the budget funds in the sum of more than 92 million hryvnia ($3.5 million).
As reported, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) asked the Odesa court to sentence Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov to 12 years in jail. He is accused of acquisition of $3,5 million during the purchase of Krayan plant.
As it was reported earlier, Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov is suspected of violating the law due to the fact that he did not declare the property his wife owns.
The NABU detectives under the guidance of the prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office served charges on Trukhanov due to the suspect of the embezzlement through the malpractice. Moreover, three people were detained on the same criminal proceeding.
The court released Trukhanov on the parole of Dmytro Golubov, the MP of Ukraine. Before this, the clashes near the court took place,38 people were detained.
