Press secretary of the delegation of the so-called Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) in the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG), Maria Kovshar announced Kyiv’s desire to purchase energy resources in the uncontrolled territories as RIA News reported.

According to Kovshar, at a meeting of the subgroup on economic issues on November 9, the Ukrainian side asked to discuss the topic of commercial supplies of electricity and coal from Donbas to Ukraine.

In his turn, the so-called Minister of Foreign Affairs of the LPR and the plenipotentiary of the republic in the TCG Vladislav Deinego said that the so-called republics are ready for discussion.

“We treated this problem with understanding, especially given the fact that this is a step towards restoring social and economic ties, as prescribed by the complex of measures, and today we reaffirmed our readiness to consider this possibility. However, upon hearing this, the representatives of Kiev preferred to remain silent in response,” Deinego said.

This news has already been commented on Telegram by the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG.

In fact, the representatives of the Ukrainian side to the subgroup on social and economic issues pointed out to the Russian side the prospects for a worsening social and economic situation both in the controlled territory of the Luhansk region and in the temporarily occupied one,” the message says.

The probable reason for this, the press service of the Ukrainian delegation at the TCG, which said that Russia had stopped supplies of thermal coal to the Luhansk TPP, which produces heat and electricity for the controlled regions and supplies electricity to the Popasnyansky district water utility.

“The representatives of the Ukrainian delegation pointed to the inadmissibility of the deterioration of the situation of our citizens on both sides of the demarcation line, which directly contradicts the letter and spirit of the Normandy and Minsk agreements. And then the Russian propaganda machine started working. The Ukrainian delegation expresses hope that the well-being of Luhansk residents on both sides of the demarcation line remains a priority for the TCG,” the delegation stated.

It was commented on by the “Politics of the Country” Telegram channel. It noted that formally Kyiv denied the words of the representatives of the occupied Donbas, but in fact - confirmed.

"The Ukrainian delegation to the TCG writes that there is a problem at the Lugansk TPP, where there is no coal. And, like, it is necessary to somehow solve it. Well, and this can be solved, in principle, only in one way - through the supply of coal from uncontrolled territories," the channel says.

Earlier, Andriy Gerus, the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Energy and Household Utilities and the MP from Servant of the People claimed that Russia has put a halt on the transit of coal from Kazakhstan to Ukraine.

However, it was stated that limitation of the transit of Kazakh coal across Russia to Ukraine occurred due to the overload of the working capacities on the Russian side.
