The representatives of occupied Donbas stated that they intended to further hold negotiations only with the Chairman of the Political Council of the Opposition Platform - For Life party Viktor Medvedchuk to the negotiation process. This was reported by the "Ombudsman" of the occupied Donetsk Daria Morozova. In Donetsk, Medvedchuk was called "a professional and a person one can agree with."
"We believe that the most suitable candidacy for this position is the political and public figure Viktor Medvedchuk, who has successful experience of working at the Minsk platform and exchanging detainees," Morozova said.
She also reminded that the crisis in the negotiations of the subgroup has been going on for more than a year and a half.
"This time was more than enough to be convinced of the incompetence and inconsistency of the negotiators. No results of today's meeting only once again confirmed that we will not achieve constructive dialogue with the current representative of Kyiv," Morozova stressed.
The representatives of occupied Luhansk are ready to hand over three detained women to the Chairman of the Political Council of the Opposition Platform - For Life party and MP Viktor Medvedchuk. Olga Kobtseva, representative of the "LPR" in the working subgroup on humanitarian issues of the Contact Group, head of the working group on the exchange of prisoners of war of the "LPR" said this at the briefing.
“This is due to the fact that during the work in the negotiation process Mr Medvedchuk has established himself as an obligatory negotiator: the topics that were discussed at the meetings of the Contact Group at the time were followed by practical steps, " the representative of the "LPR" said.
"In confirmation of our readiness (for joint work) with Mr. Medvedchuk, we repeated our proposal about the transfer of three women from the "republics" to him or person authorized by him," Kobtseva said.
Earlier, at the beginning of the year, the ORDLO authorities were ready to unilaterally return to Ukraine four women, whose release was agreed by Viktor Medvedchuk. Natalya Stetsenko, Natalya Savchenko, Kateryna Kotenko and Svetlana Dovhal have been in their prisons for several years on charges of espionage. As early as January 20, they could have been at home. However, the authorities in fact blocked this process, and women, some of whom are seriously ill, are still behind bars. Since the beginning of the armed conflict in Donbas, thanks to Viktor Medvedchuk, 493 Ukrainians have returned home from occupied Donbas territories, and more than 1,500 Ukrainians have been released by the politician.
