During the meeting in the Oval Office, US President Donald Trump told the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian Ambassador to the US Sergei Kislyak, the resons why he dismissed the FBI director James Comey. This was reported on Friday by  The New York Times referring to sources who acquainted the magazine with the report of this meeting.

“I just fired the head of the FBI. He was crazy, a real nut job,” the president said.

According to the publication, Trump got rid of Comey to ease the "big pressure" on him because of the investigation of Russia's interference in the presidential elections in the US.

The content of President Trump's conversation with Russian representatives was recorded in the report of the White House, made on the basis of records from the Oval Office. One of the officials read out the quotation, the other confirmed the general topic of the discussion, NYT reported.

At the same time, White House spokesman Sean Spicer did not object to this information. In his statement, he noted that James Comey "created unnecessary pressure on the president to conduct diplomatic negotiations with Russia on such issues as Syria, Ukraine and ISIS.

Donald Trump's meeting with Minister Lavrov and Russian Ambassador Kislyak took place the day after Comey was fired.
