During talks with US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland in Moscow, the issue of resuming regular bilateral meetings to resolve the situation in eastern Ukraine will be raised as Interfax reported.
"On the sidelines" of the three-day talks, the parties are interested in discussing the parameters for the renewal of Russian-American consultations on a settlement in eastern Ukraine," the source said.
Until 2019, the United States and Russia held consultations in a similar format. Then Moscow was represented by presidential aide Vladislav Surkov, and Washington was represented by the US State Department's special envoy for Ukraine Kurt Volker.
However, the format was later stopped.
Earlier, it was reported that Victoria Nuland, Under Secretary of the US Department of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, will pay a three-day visit to Russia, where she will hold a number of meetings and discuss issues that are topical for the two states and the world.
It should be noted that the US removed several Russians from the sanctions list in exchange for Russia’s consent to receive US Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland in Moscow.
