Nadiya Savchenko stopped starving because she wants the forthcoming exchange on Russia’s GRU servicemen Yerofeev and Alexandrov to be kept within legal frameworks. Otherwise, the sides would have to hurry up and act well ahead of the ultimate verdict in the Russians’ case. It comes into force on May 18, Ilya Novikov posted at Facebook.
“Nadiya agreed to stop starving. Otherwise, it would seem that she’s making Ukraine release terrorists without the final verdict in their case. That would’ve left Ukraine with no legal opportunities, which that verdict creates. That, in turn, would mean trouble in releasing Sentsov, Kolchenko, Soloshenko and other Ukrainians from detention in Russia. So, that’s why Nadiya agreed to stop the hunger strike”, Novikov wrote.
