U.S. military experts assume North Korea is quite capable of delivering missiles with nuclear warheads to the U.S. mainland. This, in particular, is mentioned in the secret report prepared by the CIA, as quoted by The Diplomat magazine.

According to the article, the Hwasong-14, the ICBM recently tested by North Korea, failed to enter the dense atmosphere during the test; but it was able to hit the targets in the U.S. mainland, if the flight line was specified correctly.

‘The CIA assessment notes that based on the two observed flight tests of the Hwasong-14 to date, North Korea’s reentry vehicle technology is likely sufficiently advanced to pose no performance problem should the missile be fired at a minimum energy trajectory’, reads the article.
