The German environmental non-governmental organization (NABU) has filed a lawsuit with the Hamburg Administrative Court against the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. This is reported on the website of this organization.
“NABU today filed a lawsuit against the permit issued by the Federal Office for Shipping and Hydrography for the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. The lawsuit concerns a still unfinished section of the pipeline in the exclusive economic zone of Germany,” the statement reads.
Due to the lawsuit, construction work on the German section of the pipeline is not yet allowed.
On April 13, another German environmental organization, Deutsche Umwelthilfe, also filed a complaint with the court demanding to cancel the regulator's decision to authorize the construction of Nord Stream 2 in the waters of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Earlier, ex-Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl said in an interview with RT that US sanctions against Nord Stream 2 grossly violate international law. According to her, Washington extends the boundaries of its jurisdiction to foreign citizens and companies that do not fall under it.
