Nord Stream 2 Company expects to complete the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline by the end of August. This was stated by the executive director of the company Matthias Warnig, Handelsblatt reports.
He noted that the construction of the gas pipeline is 98% complete.
"We expect construction work to be completed by the end of August. 98% is now complete," Warnig said.
According to him, the gas pipeline can be launched this year.
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba believes that if the Nord Stream 2 project is implemented, Ukraine needs security guarantees that would include the withdrawal of militants from its territory.
Also earlier, the Foreign Minister said that Ukraine is ready for negotiations on compensation due to the loss of revenues from gas transit after the launch of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
Note that on June 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the laying of the first string of Nord Stream 2 had been completed.
