According to the group, the data published by the Russian Education Ministry in Crimea does not correspond to reality. The Education Ministry states that there are schools in Crimea with education in the Ukrainian language in all forms but the number of such schools has significantly decreased. According to its data, there is only one such school in Feodosia.
The Crimean Human Rights Group communicated with the parents of the students of this school and its leadership. It got to know that in fact all subjects are taught in the Russian language and the Ukrainian language is taught as the separate subject.
Besides, the Education Ministry stated that there are two schools with Ukrainian language education in Crimea. However, it turned out that the Ukrainian language is taught as the optional subject and all other subjects are taught in the Russian language.
The Education Ministry also spreads fake information about Crimean Tatar schools. According to it, there are three Crimean Tatar schools and 19 schools with education in the Crimean Tatar language. Crimean Human Rights Group states that in fact there is no school with the education in Crimean Tatar language on the peninsula. The children are taught in the Crimean Tatar language and the Russian language there.
