The issue is about the signing of the peace treaty on the formal end of the Korean War at the end of 2018.
Conditionally, the document is called ‘Panmunjeom declaration for peace, prosperity and union at the Korean peninsula’. It was proclaimed after all meetings and 30-minutes personal talk between the leaders.
‘The two leaders solemnly declared that there will be no more war on the Korean Peninsula and thus a new era of peace has begun’, the message said.
‘Chairman Kim Jong-un and I have agreed that complete denuclearization will be achieved, and that is our common goal’, Moon Jae-in said.
The Korean War took place since 1950 until 1953; however, there was no official announcement on the end of the war. In 1953 a peace treaty was signed but it was not observed. Two states are still at war.
As we reported Kim Jong-un and Moon Jae-in met at Panmunjom border checkpoint. The historical handshake took place as the North Korean leader visited the neighboring country - for the first time in 65 years.
