President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky thanked members of the Parliament for the adoption of the bill №5599. At the same time, Zelensky stressed that there will no longer be an oligarchic branch of power in Ukraine. The head of the state wrote this on his Facebook page.

“I am grateful to every MP who supported this law (on de-oligarchization.). 229 votes in support from Servant of the People and 279 in general in parliament. The oligarchic branch of the power in Ukraine will be no more. Legislative, executive and judiciary [branches] will stay. As for the oligarchs, the only way is to become pure business,” Zelensky wrote.

In addition, the President called the vote for the bill "the right signal".

As it was reported earlier, the Verkhovna Rada accepted the bill № 5599 about de-oligarchization - in the second reading and as a whole. 279 parliamentarians voted in support of it. According to the document, the decision to recognize someone an oligarch is made by the National Security and Defense Council on the basis of a proposal from the Cabinet of Ministers, a member of the National Security and Defense Council, the NBU, the SBU or the Antimonopoly Committee. But in the second reading an obligation to invite potential oligarchs to a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, and the members of the National Security and Defense Council to argue why they refer a person to the oligarchs, and to consider the objections of the oligarchs was added.
