Situation on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border did not change after the recent statement by Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko. Andriy Demchenko, the spokesman of Ukraine's State Border Guard said so as RBC-Ukraine reported.
He reiterated that Ukrainian border guards have been working in the enhanced security mode since August.
Polish and Lithuanian border guards did not report any changes, either. Lithuanian Interior Minister Rita Tamašunienė reported that the transport has been crossing the border as always; besides, Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius said that Lukashenko had previously made similar statements. "I believe one should wait for some time, to check what it means - closure of borders for cargo, people or something else", he said.
Meanwhile, the Belarusian border guards claim that the security measures and border control are reinforced, with involvement of tactical reserves.
Earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko claims that his country is forced to shut down the border with neighboring Lithuania and Poland.
