North Korea conducted another missile test this weekend. According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea, two small-range cruise missiles were fired from the western coast of Onchon, the town in the DPRK.
Reuters cited the military of the Republic of Korea who claimed that the tests of North Korean modern nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles are underway now.
It's the first time that Pyongyang conducted such tests since the new U.S. presidential administration came to power in early 2021. Commenting on the recent weaponry testing, President Joe Biden urged the community to avoid any hype on this topic.
“According to the Defense Department it’s business as usual. There’s no new wrinkle in what they did,” he said when replying to reporters' questions.
"North Korea has refused to engage with repeated behind-the-scenes U.S. diplomatic overtures since mid-February, calling it a “cheap trick.” The senior U.S. officials said the administration’s North Korea policy review was in its “final stages” and would host the national security advisers of allies Japan and South Korea next week to discuss that", wrote Reuters.
