Heiko Maas, the German Foreign Minister has announced the next meeting of his Normandy Four counterparts. Deutsche Welle quoted the official who spoke with the press on April 30.
"One needs to urgently improve the humanitarian situation in eastern Ukraine since the closure of the disengagement line due to the Covid-19 pandemic causes locals trouble. One urgently needs to maintain progress in the mine-clearing process", Maas said.
He claimed that these and some other issues will be discussed during the next session that is to take place in May.
Maas called on Ukraine and Russia to live up to Minsk agreements as soon as possible. He added that the Covid-19 pandemic should not become any sort of cover for holding the agreed processes.
As we reported earlier, the Foreign Minister of Germany Heiko Maas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian stood against the restrictions of the work of the OSCE SMM in Donbas.
The ministers expressed concern toward restrictions of movement in the territory of self-proclaimed Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics imposed on March 21.
