In several years, the Ukrainian Army will be able to get the domestic, modern and completely import-substituting tank. It will be based on the Oplot T-84 main battle tank.

Although the Armed Forces still plan to extend the lifespan of the upgraded version of the T-64 main battle tank, the army hopes to get a modern version of Oplot, too.
The previous version of Oplot was accepted for service in 2009 (the domestic development began much earlier), and many detailas and materials still origin from Russia. That includes certain electric parts, as well as elements of blocs and systems. These need to be replaced with Ukraine-produced parts.
Currently, journalists report current plans of the Armed Forces to test the tank and its components - the engine, the armor and the crosshair. The national program to produce the modernized Oplot tank.
The new tank will cost a lot of money, 5.35 million U.S. dollars per tank. Arming one tank brigade with the upgraded tanks makes 53 million dollars.
