"This means mutual refuse from claims and the end to legal proceedings between Gazprom and Naftogaz Ukraine on the supply and transit of Russian gas, restoring the balance of commercial interests of sides", the message said. Gazprom added that Ukraine should also cancel the decision of the Anti-Monopoly Committee, which says Gazprom must pay fine for monopoly abuse at Ukraine's market of gas transit.
Aleksei Miller, the head of Gazprom discussed this issue with Georg Graf Waldersee, the German full-fledged envoy on gas transit across Ukraine.
Previously, Nafotgaz sent Gazprom its stated claims for the amount of more than 11 billion U.S. dollars, which could become compensation for the cease of transit of Russian gas across the territory of Ukraine.
The current gas supply and transit contract between Ukraine and Russia expires in late 2019.
