Israel's response to the recent UN Security Council resolution is balanced, persistent and responsible, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made clear. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
"This morning several newspapers complained that I took too tough measures against countries that voted against us in the United Nations. Israel has a national pride, and we are not turning the other cheek. The reaction is balanced, persistent and responsible. This is the natural reaction of the people, clarifying to the countries of the world, that what is happening at the UN is unacceptable for us," the prime minister wrote.
Netanyahu is convinced that there is a long-term importance in this reaction - even if there will be attempts to act against Israel in the future. "But strong response is indispensable, since it provides the basis for another relationship in the future," the Israeli prime minister emphasized.
Israeli Prime Minister stressed that the state relations with other countries not only will not suffer, but shall eventually improve. "Because the world respects the strong countries who insist on their own, and do not respect the weak, who grovel and humbly bow their head," he added.
"Israel, under my leadership is a strong country, a proud country, we will continue to protect and develop our country," Netanyahu summed up.
