The 8-hour talks regarding Normandy Format meeting ended on August 2, in Berlin. Political advisers discussed the implementation of arrangements that could facilitate conducting of the talks. This was announced by Vadym Prystayko, Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ukrinform reported.

“I hope that the agreements that we are going to fulfill will be implemented in the near future, and we can open the way to the summit. There is some success, which would be the basis for the next meeting of the leaders,” Prystayko said.

The Minister could not unveil the details of the negotiations, but noted that they were discussing troops withdrawal in the Stanytsia Luhanska (eastern Ukraine). Prystaiko noted that they agreed on this procedure in 2016, and everyone knew the steps to implement it, but no one followed them.

"For the sake of achieving concrete progress, it was decided so far to direct all efforts to Stanytsia Luhanska instead of all 3 sites (where there was an agreement on forces' separation - ed.), to start rebuilding the bridge there," Prystayko noted.

Political advisers did not discuss the issue of prisoners, the peacekeeping mission in Donbas, and the Road Map for the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

Regarding the date of the Normandy format meeting, the minister replied that it was too early to talk about it. Country leaders must decide this on their own based on the reports of preparatory meetings.

Earlier German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed the preparation to Normandy Format summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin as Spokesperson of German Government Steffen Seibert reported on Twitter.

Merkel and Putin agreed to continue the preparation for the meeting with Germany, France, Russia, and Ukraine during the phone talk.

Besides, according to Seibert, German Chancellor urged to activate the negotiations on the gas transit through Ukraine.
