Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said Ukraine will not go to direct negotiations with the militants of the self-proclaimed "DPR" and "LPR", and will only engage in dialogue with the Kremlin. Kuleba said this on the air of the program “Freedom of Speech of Savik Shuster” on one of the Ukrainian TV channels, as RBC reports.
"(...) one of our red lines, the principle, which infuriates our Russian neighbors - we will not enter into direct dialogue with the so-called “DPR/LPR,” Kuleba noted.
He stressed that the Ukrainian side would only conduct negotiations on the Donbas directly with Russia, as it is part of the Trilateral Contact Group.
As we reported before, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Ukraine was ready to discuss the special status of Donbas and Crimea within Ukraine.
The Minister has noted that the Ukrainian side was ready to negotiate on the special status of these regions within Ukraine, without giving them the right to veto any national decisions.
