Navalny nominated for president of Russia

Oppositionist Alexei Navalny was nominated to the presidency of Russia, despite the fact that earlier election committee warned of the impossibility of his registration as a candidate

Navalny's nomination took place at a meeting of the initiative group in Moscow's Serebryany Bor, writes Medusa.

According to the publication, about a thousand people, including journalists, gathered at the meeting. 742 people voted in favor of Navalny (according to Russian legislation, a self-nominated candidate should gather at least 500 people's signs).

Such initiative groups on the nomination of Navalny for presidency are meeting in many cities of the country today. So, the nomination process has already been completed by groups in Vladivostok, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Omsk, Yekaterinburg and Perm.

In total, meetings are planned in 20 cities of Russia.

Earlier the Russian election commitee already warned that Navalny will not be registered as a candidate because of a criminal record. The politician himself is trying to protest this ban.

We recall, the presidential election in Russia will be held on March 18, 2018.
