Natural gas reserves in Europe fell to record lows. On the morning of May 27, the level of reserves in the UGS facility was 35.82%, Interfax reports.

The filling level of underground storage facilities in Europe in percentage terms has reached the lowest level in the history of the Gas Infrastructure Europe base (since 2011). Earlier, the curve of the level of reserves in 2018 fell the deepest.

On the morning of May 27, the level of reserves in the UGS facility was 35.82%, which is lower than the minimum recorded in 2018 for this date - 35.95%. The current level of gas reserves in European UGS facilities lags behind the average for the last five years by 14.43 percentage points.

It is noted that if the current rates of injection are maintained, by October 20, their level will be able to reach only 78%.

Earlier, the US Department of Energy said that the natural gas transported by Russia is the "dirtiest" in the world.

This is one of the reasons why U.S. Department of Energy considers consutruction of Nord Stream II dangerous. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm said so during her speech, when attending the hearing of the committee of the US Congress.

The official opposed the construction of Nord Stream 2 pipeline. "We definitely stand against this pipeline. And on the behalf of the Department of Energy, I'm saying that one of the reasons - apart from these related to Russia - why I consider this pipeline very dangerous lies within the fact that the dirtiest form of natural gas on Earth", she said.
