NATO decided to suspend a training mission in Iraq after the assassination of Iranian general Qassem Suleimani. This was stated by the organization representative Dylan White, i24NEWS reports.
The Alliance’s mission in Iraq, consisting of several hundred people, has recently focused on training Iraqi personnel.
NATO officials also train the country's security forces at the request of the Iraqi government to prevent the return of the ISIS terrorist group.

General Qassem Suleimani was killed on January 3 by order of US President Donald Trump as a result of a missile strike at Baghdad International Airport.

Soon, in his statement, Trump called Suleimani "the number one terrorist in the world."
U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to liquidate the commander of the El Quds special forces Lieutenant General Qassem Suleimani shortly after the death of an American contractor during a rocket attack on an American military base in northern Iraq.

Trump perceived the death of the U.S. military as “crossing the red line” and ordered senior advisers to begin planning the operation.

Together with the US president, several members of the National Security Council (NSC) monitored the operation. The White House did not notify any of the foreign governments of the impending attack, nor did they notify supporters of the Democratic Party in the US Congress.
