Military drills Iron Wolf-2017 in which take part 5 thousand military officers of nine NATO member states started in Lithuania. This was reported by the press service of the Defense Ministry of Lithuania today, on June 12.

It is reported that the military drills of the Alliance started in southern, central and eastern parts of the country. Military officers of Lithuania and of nine other member states of NATO will participate in training.

It is specified that soldiers of the Great Britain, Poland, Portugal and America take part in the training

"The main task of the Iron Wolf-2017 drills is the development of readiness for combat missions of the units of the deployed in Lithuania and headed by Germany international forward-based battalion of NATO, as well as coordination of interaction with the national armed forces of Lithuania," the Ministry of Defense informed.

The exercises will last till June 23.

Earlier it was reported that FSB held large scale military drills in Crimea and offshore. The total number of the military men involved is two thousand people.
