The NATO military committee expressed its unanimous support for Ukraine in conditions of the Russian aggression. Viktor Muzhenko, Chief of the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, said this at a briefing, after the committee’s session that took place in the Belgian capital on Wednesday, January 18.
‘Me and my counterparts, Chiefs of General Staffs of NATO member countries, talked through possible options and scenarios, the ways of possible escalation of conflict in eastern Ukraine; we also discussed possible consequences of that for the European security system. All the allies supported Ukraine, condemned the ongoing Russian aggression and said they’d continue assisting our country,’ Muzhenko said.
The Ukrainian official held a number of bilateral meetings with top NATO officials, including Deputy Secretary General Rose Goettemoeller and Supreme Allied Commander Europe Curtis Scaparrotti. The key topics for their discussions were NATO-Ukraine cooperation, exchanging experience and providing assistance for Ukraine.
