NATO has called on Russia to refrain from aggressive force building and malicious action against allies. Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg stated this at a briefing.
"NATO allies have also called on Russia to refrain from aggressive building of forces and malicious actions against the allies, and to comply with all of its international obligations and responsibilities. This means that our dialogue is difficult, but even more necessary," Stoltenberg said.
It is noted that NATO allies will make efforts to find a political way to advance in the negotiations.
According to the Secretary General, bilateral consultations between the United States and Russia and tomorrow's OSCE meeting are an opportunity for constructive cooperation that cannot be lost in the interests of security in Europe.
NATO allies rejected Russia's demand not to expand as Alliance Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said.
"Today, Russia presented proposals published in December aimed at addressing its security concerns. They include demands to stop admitting new members to NATO and to withdraw troops from the territory of eastern NATO countries. The allies, for their part, reiterated NATO's open door policy and each country's right to choose its own security mechanisms," Stoltenberg said.
