The National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine has found NewsOne TV channel guilty of incitement to racial or national hatred and decided to file a suit to deprive the channel of its license. The meeting of National TV Council was broadcasted on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.
“Summing up, we recognize there was inciting of national, racial or religious hatred. We appeal to the court with a suit for revocation of license. The decision was made unanimously. I thank everyone for participating in the meeting, for your views and opinions. They were very different. Thank you,” National TV Council member Olha Herasimyuk said.
At the same time, it was stated that the channel would continue to work until the court rules out the decision concerning the license.
“I would like to add that this is the maximum sanction that the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting can apply in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On Television and Radio Broadcasting,” a member of the National TV Council Ulyana Feshchuk added.
As it was reported earlier, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) questioned NewsOne Chief Producer Vasyl Golovanov over failed telethon with the Russian TV channel.
