National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) has been openly breaching the basic law of Ukraine, prosecuting and accusing their own compatriots of high treason - without proving it in the court. Valeriya Lutkovska, the former parliamentary ombudsman of Ukraine and honored lawyer said so on a TV show.
"Whatever is happening today with all decisions of the NSDC is a blatant violation of the Constitution of Ukraine; it's a demise of the statehood. If you have information about a certain individual doing damage to the state then go to the court, please, and prove it within the criminal procedure. Get a verdict and implement it then!", she said.
In February, the Ukrainian government implemented sanctions against three opposition TV channels, 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZIK. The sanctions are to last for five years, effectively blocking the broadcasting of all three channels. On February 20, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law, which activated the NSDC decision about sanctions against eight individuals, including Viktor Medvedchuk, the Chairman of Political Council of Opposition Platform - For Life party. In May, Kyiv's Pechersk court put Medvedchuk under house arrest.
