The NSDC, National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine said it could consider introducing sanctions against Ukrainian oligarch and former official Ihor Kolomoisky - "if offers come up". This is mentioned in the NSDC's reply to the request made by Radio Liberty office in Kyiv.

"In case of appearance of offers about the implementation of sanctions against the mentioned individual, which come from the bodies authorized by the Law of Ukraine "On sanctions", these offers will be taken for consideration by the NSDC of Ukraine according to the procedure", the Council said.  

The authority added that the list of Ukrainian bodies authorized to offer sanctions, their dismissal or any amendments to these restriction includes President, Praliament, Cabinet of Ministers, National Bank of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine.

On March 5, the United States announced public designation of oligarch and former Ukrainian public official Ihor Kolomoysky due to his involvement in significant corruption and imposed restrictive measures against him and his family.

In August 2020, the U.S. Justice Department accused Ukrainian oligarch Ihor Kolomoysky of stealing billions of dollars from a bank he once owned (Privatbank - 112 International) and laundering that money in the United States and all over the world.
