The National Council for TV and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine conducted the monitoring of Ukrainian TV channels on December 31-January 1 and detected a load of Russian content displayed on these channels.

According to, the Council will apply respective measures after all the materials are processed.   

Members of the Council are disappointed and outraged at the huge amount of Russian content during the Christmas holidays. Besides, some viewers are angry, too; many of them filed complaints that reached the Council.

"This is unacceptable. Now is the time when we respect our audience and not let it view Russian films, pop music and Russian-language content", said Maksym Onoprienko, the Council's member. 

In turn, Deputy Head of the Council Valentyn Koval claimed that 1+1 and Ukraina TV channels had the highest TV measurement ranking on New Year's eve. They showed their own content, but it was mostly in Russian.
