The work of NAPC, the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption has to be rebooted in order to make it more effective. Natalya Novak, the Acting Chief of NAPC reported that at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday.
The official stressed that first of all, the authority needs to check the e-declarations of the officials who are supposed to fight corruption.
"The Agency should cooperate with other anti-corruption authorities, including NABU and Prosecutor [General's] Office. We know that the cleansing of the Prosecutor's Office is now underway. We know about the re-shaping of courts. And we've got to check the declarations of the officials who are supposed to fight corruption because when the corrupt person works in these bodies it means there will be no fighting with corruption", she said.
Novak added that NAPC received the access to registers of officials, which would make its work more effective.
The official is temporarily working as the Acting Chief for the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption; the Cabinet made the respective decision on October 21. According to Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk, Novak is a certified expert in law, economy and history. She is the holder of the title of Honored Economist of Ukraine.
