At the founding summit of the Crimean Platform Germany will be represented by the Federal Minister of Economy and Energy Peter Altmeier. This was announced by the Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
"Germany at the first Crimean Platform summit will be represented by Federal Minister of Economy and Energy Peter Altmeier. He is a close confidant of Federal Chancellor Merkel and previously served as head of the Federal Chancellery," Feldhusen said.
She noted that in 2019, Minister Altmaier took an active part in negotiations on a gas transit contract between Naftogaz and Gazprom.
"The topic of energy security in the context of Nordstream-2 will certainly also be on the agenda of Minister Altmaier on the sidelines of the Crimean Platform summit," the ambassador added.
Note that together with Ukraine, the Crimean Platform has 45 participants.
At the same time, yesterday the NSDC Secretary Olexiy Danilov said that under pressure from the Russian Federation, one country refused to participate in the Crimean Platform.
The Crimean Platform was initiated as an international coordination mechanism to return the issue of Crimea to the agenda, protect human rights in Crimea and promote the de-occupation of the peninsula.
