Naftogaz-Ukraine sent new claims against Gazprom to the Stockholm arbitration. The executive director of Naftogaz Yuri Vitrenko announced this on his Facebook page.

According to him, the decision on this arbitration will be made in 2021.

“It’s our turn to file a Statement of Defense and counterclaims. The number of pages of the main text of our claim alone exceeds 500. It includes 3 reports of international experts that were specially developed for this. Witness statements and a bunch of other applications are also attached.” he wrote.

According to Vitrenko, the document has been actively prepared for about three months. He promised to write more about the claims later.

Earlier at a trilateral consultation between the European Commission, Ukraine and Russia on the transit of Russian gas, the European side suggested that Naftogaz and Gazprom should conclude two agreements.

Naftogaz-Ukraine insists on signing a new contract with a new operator of Ukrainian natural gas transmission system, which will be withdrawn from Naftogaz group.

"Relations between natural gas transmission system operator of Ukraine and Gazprom have to comply with the requirements of the European energetic legislation, which Ukraine imposes as a member of the Energetic Society. Gazprom works with all the counterparts in the European Union on the same principles. We are sure that the promotion of such rules will simplify the work of the Russian company with Ukraine," the message reads.

It is noted that Ukraine invited Gazprom representatives to participate in the public discussion of a new methodology of tariff creation based on the European rules.

Naftogaz mentioned that the company was ready for the contract extension in the next month.
