The Verkhovna Rada has allocated over $11 million for expanded newborn screening, provided by changes to the state budget for 2021. 333 parliamentarians supported the corresponding bill № 5589.

The document proposes to amend the Law of Ukraine On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2021 and increase expenditures by over $11 million (UAH 300 million) under the budget program KPKVK 2301220 Development of emergency medical care and modernization and renewal of material and technical base of health care facilities by reducing expenditures for the same amount under the budget program KPKVK 2201070 Fund of the President of Ukraine to support education, science and sports.

According to the text of the explanatory note to the bill, these funds will be used to provide the expert and two regional newborn screening centers with laboratory equipment.

As it was reported earlier, Ukraine may raise the retirement age again. The corresponding bill № 5566 was registered in the Verkhovna Rada by parliamentarians from the Servant of the People party.
