Over 1,000 people were detained in Turkey on suspicion of links with Fethullah Gulen, who is blamed by Ankara for a failed coup attempt last July. This was reported by Reuters referring to the sources.

Mass detentions took place in the country on Wednesday. 

According to the sources, crackdown targeted a Gulen network in police, calling them "secret imams".

It was also noted that detainees were taken to Ankara.
