Montenegro officially became 29th member –state of NATO today. On this day, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, along with US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Thomas Shannon, will attend ceremony in the US State Department with the Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković, during which the document on joining of this Balkan republic the alliance will be passed over.
Russia sharply reacted to this step of the Balkan country.
Earlier it was reported that in May 2016, the Alliance member countries signed the respective protocol. Last month, the country’s parliament approved the law on Montenegro’s membership in NATO; on May 12, the government ratified the mentioned NATO protocol.
