Sandu said that she had already signed a decree on the dissolution of parliament and the date of early parliamentary elections in Moldova. They will take place on July 11th.
"I signed a decree dissolving parliament. Early parliamentary elections will be held on July 11," Sandu said.
On April 15, the Constitutional Court decided on the existence of circumstances that would justify Parliament’s dissolution. The circumstance that justifies the Parliament’s dissolution is its incapacity to form a Government as the term of three months expired and two attempts to form a Government failed.
On March 30, President Sandu submitted to the Constitutional Court the notification regarding the ascertainment of the circumstances that justify the dissolution of the Parliament. On March 26, 54 deputies from the Socialist Party, Shor Party, the For Moldova platform, and the Pro Moldova group signed a declaration opposing the dissolution of the Parliament. On March 25, the attempt to form the Grosu Government failed due to lack of quorum after the Socialist, Shor, and For Moldova, deputies left the sitting of the Parliament.
