Moldova intends to hire an international law firm to assess the losses brought upon Transnistria by Russian forces, as speaker of Moldovan Parliament Andrian Candu told Latvijas Avize in an interview.

According to him, the country is preparing to sue Russia for billions of dollars for violating the international law. He also noted that there are some 2.000 Russian troops in Transnistria.

“Russian military units are a threat to security, as it’s unlawful military presence, like the one in Abkhazia, South Ossetia, and Eastern Ukraine,” Candu said. The Moldovan Parliament speaker hopes this issue will be raised internationally.
