On August 14 the European Union convenes an emergency meeting of the Committee on Defense Policy to discuss the situation surrounding the missile tests of the DPRK and new sanctions against it. This was reported by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union Federica Mogherini, said in a statement on the website of the union.
"As a result of the talks on the margins of the ASEAN Regional Forum in Manila, with Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Australian Foreign Ministe, Julie Bishop and another Ministers, the High Representative and Vice-President Federica Mogherini decided to convene an extraordinary meeting of the Committee on Political and Security Affairs on Monday, August 14, to discuss the possible next steps regarding the situation in the Democratic Republic of Korea, "the report said.
Earlier it was reported that Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland said that North Korea's nuclear program represents a "serious threat" to the security of the world and called on its leadership to join the international community, which condemns threats from North Korean leaders.
