The government of Missouri state recognized the Holodomor of 1932-33 in Ukraine an act of genocide of the Ukrainian people. Ukraine's Embassy in the U.S. reproted that on Monday.
Eric Greitens, the governor, issued the respective proclamation.
'We're grateful for the U.S. people and their solidarity and support of Ukraine in resoting the historical justice in the memory of millions of people who died due to the tyranny of Stalin's regime', the message says.
Holodomor is considered the act of genocide of Ukrainians in eleven U.S. states.
The Great Famine in Ukraine lasted from April 1932 till November 1933. It claimed at least 1.8 million lives. Ukrainian historians assume the actual figure could be from three to ten million of victims.
